Czechoslovakia WW2 Original Medal for Bravery Original Ribbon 1940 -- A 33 mm diameter circular bronze medal with ‘V’-shaped bar for ribbon suspension decorated with linden leaves. The obverse shows an upright sword imposed on the lion of Bohemia with the cross of Slovakia to the left and a ribbon above inscribed ‘ZA CHRABROSŤ’ (for Bravery). The reverse is inscribed ‘PRAVDA VÍTEZÍ’ (Truth prevails) and dated ‘1939’. It is on original ribbon with French mount for wearing.
The medal was instituted December 20 1940 in London by the Czechoslovak Government in exile to honor soldiers who showed the personal bravery against enemy. I believe this is a London type 1940. It has the darker bronze with slight difference to the sword hilt when compared with the Prague version.
