Very Fine, Bernardaud, Limoges, "Artois" Round Cake or Serving Platter

Description

For your consideration, a very fine large, round platter, for serving cake, sandwiches etc. made in France by Bernardaud in the lovely pattern known as "Artois". Of the finest French porcelain, it is elegantly decorated with sprigs of blue cornflowers and pink roses, and bordered with delicate wreaths of laurel in green and yellow. Cornflowers and roses were known to be the favorite flowers of Marie Antoinette, and are prevalent in many French porcelain designs. This lovely large platter shows them off to onice advantage. The molded border features a basketweae in the porcelain at several spots around the rim, an old motif, but nice for a firm handle when the platter is full.
Measures 11.75" diameter.
It is in very good condition, with two or three light scratches in the center from prior use.
